Most design starts from a fixed output: a 1080 by 1080 Instagram square, a Letter sheet, an HD video frame. These templates flip that. The canvas takes its dimensions from the workspace itself or from numbers you supply, which is the right move for quick drawings, screen-matched sketches, and one-off layouts that do not match any standard preset.
