About this size

XGA was the laptop and projector standard for most of the 2000s. Even after widescreen displays took over consumer laptops, conference-room projectors stayed on XGA for years because the installed base was huge and the upgrade cycle was slow. Presentations designed at XGA still display correctly on legacy projector inventory in places where the gear has not been replaced.

Pro tips

1 The standard resolution for 2000s-era laptops and presentation projectors. Many conference rooms still have XGA-native projectors.
2 4:3 aspect ratio. Slides at XGA display correctly on legacy projectors that cannot handle 16:9.
3 A useful fallback when presenting in venues with unknown projector specs.
