about the size of a small movie poster

About this size

The 18 by 24 size is one of the cinema industry's standard secondary poster formats, smaller than the 27 by 40 theatrical one-sheet but large enough to anchor a retail display or event space. It is also a common framed-print size at gallery and craft stores, which makes it a practical format for limited-edition art posters.

At this size, typography decisions become structural. Display type that reads as confident on a small poster can read as overwhelming at 18 by 24, and vice versa.

Pro tips

  1. 1 A standard cinema-style sub-one-sheet size. Larger than bulletin board but smaller than theatrical one-sheet.
  2. 2 For commercial print, add 0.125 in bleed and design at 300 DPI for clean typography.
  3. 3 A common framed-print size at gallery stores, which makes it a practical limited-edition art poster format.
