Splash screens are a logistical problem more than a design one. Every device the app supports needs its own splash asset at a different aspect ratio, and maintaining a separate composition per device is unsustainable. The fix is to design once on a large square and let each device crop the centre.

2732 by 2732 is sized to the maximum iPad Pro short edge, which is large enough that even the most extreme phone aspect ratio still pulls a sharp asset from the centre. Anchor everything important to the middle and the system does the rest.

Pro tips

1 Centre the logo and brand mark. Every smaller device crop preserves the centre region, so peripheral content gets lost.
2 Leave at least 500 px of safe margin from each edge. The most aggressive portrait phone crops can take that much off the sides.
3 Solid or simple gradient backgrounds tile well across crops. Photographic backgrounds rarely survive aspect-ratio shifts cleanly.
