Noir 9-Panel Grid
Dense 9-panel grid with extra-heavy strokes for noir and mystery work Dense 9-panel grid with extra-heavy strokes for noir and mystery work
A noir-style dense 9-panel grid with extra-heavy black strokes. Sin City rigour applied to mystery, crime, and atmospheric work.
About this size
Noir comics use rigid 9-panel grids as a counterpoint to the chaos of the stories they tell. The discipline of the layout becomes a stylistic feature: every panel has equal weight, the pace stays mechanical, and the art does all the emotional work inside the cell.
Frank Miller's Sin City pushed this to an extreme with thick black strokes that read as a visual signal of weight and gravity. This bundle ships the layout plus the heavy-stroke styling.

Pro tips
- 1 The discipline of the grid is the point. Resist the urge to break it for emphasis; let the art carry the weight.
- 2 High-contrast art (heavy blacks, clean whites, minimal mid-tones) matches the stroke weight and reads as noir.
- 3 Dialogue should be terse and balloon placement minimal. The grid does not have room for crowded text.
