Facebook recommends 1200 by 630 for feed posts and Open Graph thumbnails happen to use the same dimensions. The result is that one well-designed asset can serve Facebook feed, LinkedIn shares, Twitter cards without the large-image variant, Slack previews, and almost every messaging app's link unfurl. It is the most reused size in social design.

Pro tips

1 Treat this as the default og:image. One file ships everywhere a link preview gets rendered.
2 Keep critical text and faces inside the central 1200 by 600 band. Some platforms crop a slim slice off the top and bottom when rendering as a thumbnail.
3 High contrast wins at link-preview scale. The design has to read at roughly thumbnail size for half the surfaces it will appear on.
