About this size

The 11 by 14 size sits at the boundary between print and poster. Smaller than a typical movie poster, larger than a framed photo print, it works in tight spaces where 16 by 20 would feel oversized and where 8 by 10 would disappear on the wall.

The other useful property is frame availability. 11 by 14 is one of the few mid-format sizes consistently stocked at consumer frame shops, which means the print and frame can be sourced separately without custom matting.

Pro tips

  1. 1 Fits many off-the-shelf frames sold for diplomas and small art prints. Useful when frame and print are sourced independently.
  2. 2 Add 0.125 in bleed for commercial print; home printers usually do not need it but the trim is less precise.
  3. 3 Type at this size reads from arm's length, not from across the room. Plan hierarchy accordingly.
