About this size

The 16 by 20 size is the standard format for limited-edition giclée prints in much of the contemporary art market. It is large enough to register as a real piece of art on the wall without dominating the room, and the dimensions match common archival frame stock.

For giclée and fine-art reproduction, design at the size it will print at. Scaling up later costs perceived sharpness; scaling down loses the careful weight of detail that giclée pulls out of a file.

Pro tips

  1. 1 A practical limited-edition giclée size. The market expects this format for affordable mid-tier original prints.
  2. 2 Fits standard frame sizes sold at art-supply stores, which keeps framing costs predictable.
  3. 3 For fine-art reproduction, work at the final dimensions in the file. Scaling at export costs detail in ways that are visible at this size.
