The Large Leaderboard is the upscale cousin of the standard 728 by 90 Leaderboard. The extra 242 px of horizontal room is reserved for premium top-of-page placements on publisher sites that command higher CPMs.

Most ad networks fall back to 728 by 90 inventory when 970 by 90 is unavailable, which means the design has to work at both sizes. The reliable approach is to design the central 728 px as a standalone composition and use the outer band for supplemental visual weight.
